In
August 2007, it will have been ten years since the release of the
First Edition / First Printing of Back to Basics, fondly referred
to by many as the "Step Guide to the Big Book of Alcoholics
Anonymous." Several hundred thousand members of A.A. can attest
to the unprecedented effectiveness and success of the Back to
Basics A.A. Beginners' Meetings. The thousands of A.A. Groups who
use this original A.A. meeting format from the 1940's continue to
report recovery rates far greater than what had been experienced
prior to the book's release in 1997.
We are in the process of preparing a new webpage describing the
history and evolution of Back to Basics A.A. Beginners' Meetings,
our relationship with the General Service Office during these ten
years, and the countless miracles of recovery that have occurred
as the direct result of taking the Twelve Steps the way Dr. Bob
and the A.A. pioneers took them.
In conjunction with this milestone in A.A. history, we are asking
those who have personally recovered in the Back to Basics
Beginners' Meetings or who have witnessed numerous recoveries as
the direct result of conducting the Beginners' Meetings, please
send us your stories so we can post them on our website. In
addition, please send your stories to the Staff at the General
Service Office in New York City. The GSO Staff needs to witness
for themselves the countless miracles that are happening "in the
trenches" so they can better serve us in the years ahead.
Send your stories to
webmaster@aabacktobasics.org and our webmaster will get them
published in a timely manner.
